The second edition of the MB2 conference “Journées de Modélisation BioMathématique de Besançon”, an event co-organized by the Laboratoire de Mathématiques de Besançon and the Chrono-Environment lab (University of Franche-Comté/CNRS), was held from the 7th to the 10th of July, 2015, in the heart of the ZAAJ at Métabief (Haut-Doubs). These modeling days intended to bring together researchers from two communities, mathematicians and biologists, in order to share reflections on contemporary scientific biomathematics. Sixty participants from Besançon, Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nancy, Marseille, Toulouse and also from Switzerland, Italy, India, Canada and the United States, were able to exchange on the following modeling themes:
- Structure and dynamics of food webs
- Epidemiology-ecotoxicology
- Dynamic and cellular heterogeneity
- Plant Biology
- Evolution of the genome
- Cancer

The MB2 conference also allowed to highlight the importance of modeling in the context of the ZAAJ, and to show how some ecological features from the context of the ZAAJ may lead to mathematical and computer modeling fomulations, and also to discuss the impact of these models for the ZAAJ.
